Bhatkal Beach

The beauty of the beach lies in its temple which is located on a hillock, known as Kanduka Giri, by the shore. The temple attracts a lot of devotees and tourists from far and wide. Located behind the temple is a huge fort, which was renovated by Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore, in the bygone era. Bhatkal was once the main port of the Vijayanagar Empire in the 16th century. It is dotted with fascinating temples—the Jain Chadranatha Basadi temple and the 17th century Vijayanagar temple. These temples have intricate carvings of animals, which were carved by the then Vijayanagar artisans. Bhatkal beach offers breathtaking views of sunrise and sunsets.
