ISKCON Temple BangloreThe spiritual aura of the ISKCON temple in Bangalore will surely make you feel at peace. It is an extremely beautiful temple which is held in high esteem by Hindus. ISKCON stands for International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Every day around 12,000 devotees come to the temple for darshan. The shrine houses mesmerizing idols of Lord Krishna and Radha. The heavenly beings are dressed in colourful clothes and are also adorned with stunning jewellery anf garlands. The temple is located on a seven acre hillock which is known as the Hare Krishna Hill.


The temple has a huge hall occupying an area of 10,000 sq feet. The vibrant and peaceful ambiance of the hall attributes to the several shrines situated in it. The imposing paintings on the ceilings of the hall are some of the finest works of the Russian painters. The temple was designed by two staunch believers of Krishna: Madhu Pandit Dasa and Jagat Chandra Dasa. The temple also has lush green gardens where you can relax for some time. The four Gopurams within the temple are devoted to Sri Krishna Balrama, Sri Nitai Gauranga, Sri Prahlada Narasimha and Sri Srinivasa Govinda respectively.


The beauty and class of the Neo Classical style of architecture of the temple clearly reflects in its Rajagopuram, paths decorated with water jets, sculptures and ornately designed arches. Best time to visit the temple is during the celebration of 'Janmastami'(birthday of Lord Krishna). Devotees from India and Abroad flock to the temple during the festival. The festival is marked by several cultural and spiritual activities. The temple keep launching programmes and one of the interesting programme was named as “Friends of Lord Krishna”. Its aim was to educate the youngsters about the Vedic culture(Vedic philosophy and lifestyle). The temple is easily accessible from any part of the city.
