Good news for the bird's lover is that the Botanical Garden In Ooty is a home to several species of birds. Rare tree species in the garden are the Cork tree, the paper bark tree and the monkey puzzle tree. Other attractions found here are 20 million year old fossilized tree, a garden laid in an Italian style surrounding a pool, a wide variety of flowering bushes, colourful exotic and ornamental plants, a diverse array of ferns and orchids.

The garden is under the supervision of the Horticulture department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
The garden is also famous for its wonderful 'Summer Festival' which is held annually in the month of May. It entices a lot of tourists from far and wide. The most striking feature of the festival is the 'Flower Show' wherein several rare species of plants and flowers are on display.
