Cherai Gowreeshwara Temple

Situated in Ernakulam district of Kerala, this is one of the most famous temples of the region. People exploring Cherai, visit this holy place to take the blessings of the deity. Known as Muruga Temple or Malyala Palani, this temple is famous for its grand festival celebration. The festival starts in the month of January and gets an end by the middle of February. The major attraction of the festival is the elephant march.

Portuguese Fort at Cherai Beach

This oldest European monument is the highlight of the region. Built in 1503, the fort is as also known as? 'Aya Kotta'. The fort was built as an out post to safeguard Mussiris Port, which is another popular fort. The history says that in 1661, the fort was captured by Dutch and later in 1789, it was handed over to the ruling king of? Thiruvithamkoor.

Pallipuram Church

This ancient church is a beautiful architecture of 1577. Built by Portuguese, the church houses an exquisite picture of Ave Mary on "Altar". The picture was brought from Portugal. The yearly celebrations of? Lady of snow takes place in August. The water parade of boats is a must watch and a notable ceremony.
