This is the lofty aim of Sri Aurobindo Ashram founded by Sri Aurobindo, a great yoga teacher, on the 24th November 1926. Here people are taught to achieve higher state of life so that they can experience true happiness and peace in their life. Practice of 'Integral Yoga' meaning? one must follow whatever spiritual techniques they feel guided to, had been chosen as the medium of achieving it. Mirra Alfassa, a disciple of Sri Aurobindo, was appointed as the in charge of the Ashram in the December of the same year when it was founded.
The ashram is open to one and all. Anybody can join it. It gives importance to self practice. The teachings of Sri Aurobindo have left a deep impact not only on Indians but also on foreigners. These teachings are accessed through the books and the regional centres of the ashram. Collective meditation , exhibitions and video programmes are the activities which can be enjoyed here. Accommodation is also available at the ashram. Visitors can stay in the guest rooms managed by it.
Best time to pay a visit to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram is between November-March as this time period is marked with several celebrations in the ashram.
